A fine day greeted us for this years Spring Longbow 2-way Western shoot.

- 10th February - Entry Forms available!
Well, what a winter so far! Hope you're all keeping safe and warm,
waiting for the outdoor season to start (hopefully it won't be quite
so white by then). Just to get you in the mood, see our events page
for entry forms to our April and May shoots. Hope to see you there!
- 12th October - BCOA Autumn Albion/Windsor
Another foggy start to what turned out to be a glorious day for shooting.
We hope everyone enjoyed the day and will back to see us next year!
Check out the results on our events page to see how you fared!
- 30th September - BCOA AGM - Wrington Cricket Club
Thanks to all that attended the AGM, it's very important that all members
have their voice in matters pertaining to the club and how it operates.
A very productive evening saw the election of David Collins (aka Twitcher)
as our new Vice Chairman (to which he expressed his personal interest
in Vice..), Matthew Yeates as Records Officer, George Pengelly as tournaments
Officer and Penny Codling as Child Protection Officer, supported by
Mark Dale.
Congratulations to all the new position holders and thanks to all the
serving committee members who have continued their roles for another
year!
- 28th September - BCOA Autumn friendly Longbow 2 way Western Shoot
Despite the foggy start (purely atmospheric of course and not at all
self inflicted from CJ's 21st birthday bash the night before!), a glorious
day ensued without the customary Burnham wind to blame for the shooting!
Thanks to all that came along to support the event and we hope that
everyone had a very enjoyable day. Check out our Events page for the
Results!
Caption: "Hold on to your hats people! The last arrow he shot was so
bent it came back!"
- 20th September - GWAS Junior Inter-Counties Match
Another very successful shoot and first airing of the club's new gazebo,
which was great fun constructing blind (as usual - where's the fun using
instructions!). Feedback from the judges and competitors was very complimentary
(that's the whole event organisation not just the gazebo!) and as usual
special thanks must go out to all who contributed their time and effort
on the day.
Prototype "GPengelly Mk1" boss stand rolled out of the hanger (ok,
hut) and with a little invaluable judges input, Mk2 (Complete with army
surplus tent pegs) may appear soon! Look out for upcoming mass production
line gathering, and a chance to improve your flat pack furniture constructing
skills..
- 28th June - GWAS & SCAA Junior Champs 2008
The 'Grand Western Archery Society Regional' and 'Somerset County Archery
Association' Junior Championships were again held at the Burnham Company
of Archers site on Saturday 28th June. The BCOA juniors did exceptionally
well..

- 25th May 2008 - May Open Shoot
Congratulations to all that took part in our May Open shoot which went
ahead despite some challenging weather conditions on Sunday! Our prayers
for sunshine were answered a few hours late, arriving toward the end
of the day in time for the presentations (so better late than never!).
We hope everyone had a great time in spite of the weather and we hope
to see you all again for our next event! The results can now be found
on our Events page so check out how you all faired!
- 4th May 2008 - Club members fun shoot
** Fun Shoot! ** - It was decided at the recent committee meeting
on Sat 26th April, that there will be a fun shoot this Sunday, 4th May.
All club members are welcome to come along and enjoy/suffer the usual
banter associated with attempts at hitting a target with a Jelly Bow!
Start time is 11:30am (so you are all given a lye-in - no excuses!).
Hope to see you all there!
- 20th April 2008 - BCOA Spring Longbow 2-way
The bad weather miraculously held off all day for the longbow shoot,
and there was even a bit of sunshine in the afternoon! The Bacon Butties
and Cream Scones were plentiful and the tents stayed attached to the
ground... another successful shoot! Check out all the pics in the Gallery!

- 3rd February 2008 - Second Workshop session at indoor venue, Burnham
Rifle Club
Thanks again for all the time and effort put in by all at the event,
making it the enjoyable and informative day that it's always guaranteed
to be.
- 30th Dec 2007 - Workshop session at indoor venue, Burnham Rifle Club
Workshops are a great opportunity to learn all about equipment, tuning,
technique or any aspect you need to brush up on! A very informative
day was had by all, so if you're interested to know how to fletch your
arrows, apply your piles, make your own string or improve your shot
then ask at the club about our next session (free to club members).
Thanks must go to Ann Bye, Lesley Passey, Nigel Boley and Peter Smith
for their time, effort and expertise, making it such a successful event.
- Dec 2007 - Santa Shot! (ok, a loo roll construction one anyway)
Much fun was had by all at the annual (no... really?) Christmas shoot.
There was a distinct reduction in the balloon population and many a
fletching torn off as a result of impaling various dangling Santa's,
Snowmen, and Pirates (?) (later renamed 'The Sheriff of Nottingham').
Check out some pics on our Gallery Page.. brace yourselves for the silly
hats!
- Jan 2008 - New Web Site Launch!
At the 2007 club AGM it was decided that a new web site was needed
with more informative content for members and visitors alike. You are
now looking at the result of our efforts! Some pages are still in progress,
so keep coming back to check for updates. We hope you enjoy your visit!
We hold no responsibility for the unusual styles you may see in our
galleries!
